Company History
The creators of the original Whiffer Sniffers, Bearington Collection, is a family company dedicated to creating adorable and affordable plush gifts, collectibles and accessories. The love of teddy bears drew the Stray family to the industry in the beginning, and although they worked in sales for a number of respected industry leaders, they always dreamed of owning their own company. Throughout the past 17 years, the Stray family has worked side by side to create today’s Bearington Collection® that is loved by plush enthusiasts from around the world. While there have been lots of changes in the product line over the past decade, the care and dedication put into creating charming plush items filled with personality has remained the same.
Our Design and Inspiration
Just like a song on the radio can bring a person back to a certain time and place, smell can evoke fun memories. With that in mind, Bearington Collection has had scented plush in its wheelhouse of ideas for years. Brad and Jamie wanted their scented creation to have cool vibe that was fun, functional, and collectible. This took a lot of thought and collaboration. Characters were dreamed up and discussed, and available scrap paper everywhere was covered with character sketches. Eventually, the scented characters came to life! Talented artists were brought in to help create artwork to compliment the characters and further provide a visual representation of the characters’ personalities. After much collaborative thought, time and hard work; Bearington Collection is thrilled to present… the original Whiffer Sniffers.

Not only does Bearington have a very diverse product line that includes everything from realistic wildlife animals, to intricately dressed collectibles, to our exceptional new line of designer baby products, but Bearington is also the proud recipient of more distinguished design awards than any other teddy bear company since the teddy bear was invented!! Since 2000, Bearington has received over 100 industry design awardsand nominations which include 1 Canadian Collectible of the Year Award, 2 NALED Plush of the Year Nominations, 2 CIB Collector’s Choice Awards, and several TOBY Industry Choice Awards, TOBY Public Choice Awards, and Golden Teddy Awards and Nominations.
